Admin Operations: Access, Systems & Boundaries
Most practice pressure is a system problem, not a people problem.
Most admin pressure isn't caused by patient volume or staff effort. It's caused by practices that were never deliberately designed - too many access routes, unclear systems and boundaries that aren't consistently held.
This training day gives admin teams the tools to manage access effectively, run daily operations safely and hold the standards that keep the practice consistent.
Best for
- Practices where phones, inboxes and patient requests feel out of control
- Teams giving inconsistent answers or handling the same work more than once
- Admin staff who struggle to hold boundaries under patient pressure
- Practice Managers or GPs reviewing admin workflows, access routes and daily operations
Key areas include
- Managing patient access - phones, inboxes and how requests enter the practice
- Daily operational systems - opening safely, managing workflow and closing the day correctly
- Safe booking, eligibility checks, non-clinical triage and escalation
- Routing, ownership and recording - how work moves through the practice without coming back
- Holding practice boundaries - access rules, collecting payments and consistent communication under pressure
- SOPs - building consistent systems that hold across the team
This training covers the operational and systems side of general practice admin - access management, daily operations, communication and boundaries.
Areas such as PCRS claims, state contract schemes and financial compliance are outside the scope of this training and are covered in the State Contracts & PCRS day.
